ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರೋತ್ಸವದ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ನರೇಂದ್ರ ಮೋದಿ ಅವರು ಜಾರ್ಖಂಡ್ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಆದಿವಾಸಿ ನಾಯಕ ಬಿರ್ಸಾ ಮುಂಡಾ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಪ್ಪು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿರುವುದು ಎಲ್ಲಡೆ ವೈರಲ್‌ ಆಗಿದೆ.
ಮೋದಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿರ್ಸಾ ಮುಂಡಾ 1857ರ ಮೊದಲ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ ಸಂಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ವಾಸ್ತವವಾಗಿ ಬಿರ್ಸಾ ಮುಂಡಾ ಆ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಮುಂಡಾ ಜನಿಸಿದ್ದು 1875 ನವೆಂಬರ್‌ 15ರಂದು. ಬುಡಕಟ್ಟು ನಾಯಕರೊಬ್ಬರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಪ್ಪು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿರುವುದು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಕ್ರೋಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಜಾರ್ಖಂಡ್‌ನ ಛೋಟನಾಗಪುರ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮುಂಡಾ ಬುಡಕಟ್ಟು ಸಮುದಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಬಿರ್ಸಾ ಮುಂಡಾ 19ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಅಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬದುಕಿದ್ದವರು. ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಹೋರಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ತಮ್ಮ ಬುಡಕಟ್ಟು ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳ ಪಾಲಿಗೆ ಆರಾಧ್ಯ ದೈವವಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

1875ರಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿ 25 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಬದುಕಿದ್ದ ಬಿರಸಾ ಮುಂಡ ತಮ್ಮ ಕಿರಿಯ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲೇ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಹೋರಾಟ ಮಾಡಿದವರು. ಆಗಿನ ಬೆಂಗಾಲ್ ಪ್ರೆಸಿಡೆನ್ಸಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಡಾ ಬುಡಕಟ್ಟು ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಜನರ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಆಂದೋಲನ ಕಟ್ಟಿದವರು.
ಬಿರ್ಸಾ ಮುಂಡಾ ತನ್ನದೇ ಒಂದು ಮತ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಬಿರ್ಸಾಯತ್ ಎನ್ನುವ ಈ ಮತದ ಮೂಲಕ ಆದಿವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನು ಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿಸತೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ತಮ್ಮ ಮೂಲ ಬುಡಕಟ್ಟು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ, ಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಅವರು ಬೋಧಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಜನರ ಪಾಲಿಗೆ ಬಿರಸಾ ಮುಂಡಾ ಪವಾಡ ಪುರುಷ ಎನಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಆದಿವಾಸಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ತೆರಿಗೆ ಹೇರುತ್ತಿದ್ದುದು ಮತ್ತು ಮತಾಂತರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದುದು ಮುಂಡಾ ಅವರನ್ನು ಆಕ್ರೋಶಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ವಿವಿಧ ಆದಿವಾಸಿ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಆಂದೋಲನ ಕಟ್ಟುತ್ತಾರೆ.
